Jay-Z Talks About His new Job

Jay-z was on Hot 97 yesterday talking to Funkmaster Flex.
He talked about his new job as a CEO/President of Def Jam saying that the first projects he'll have to work on are 'whoever is on the schedule, I know that the first ones coming out on roc A Fella are either Bleek or Foxy.' When asked about his daily job Jay-z said 'I'll be helping with the single selection, marketing, videos, giving some advice, I'm here to win basically.' He also said that Damon Dash had a stuation of his own [we believe it's the Roc4Life project] and that he works in the same building but that they're on good terms.

Jay-Z also said he still owns the name 'Roc-A-Fella' and could basically take it wherever he wants with some negotiation.

He also revealed that The Fade to Black DVD, covering his farewell concert at th Madison Square Garden, will come out in February.

Dre's Attacker: 'I was Paid by Suge Knight'

According to the NY Post, The man who touched off a wild brawl at the Vibe Music Awards last year told cops that rap icon Marion "Suge" Knight paid him to sucker-punch Dr. Dre in a bid to embarrass the famous producer, sources told The Post yesterday.
Jimmy James Johnson, a 26-year-old parolee who is facing a life sentence because he's a possible three-strike offender, has told Santa Monica, Calif., police that Knight gave him $5,000 and agreed to forgive a brother's financial debt in exchange for the punch.

Shortly after hitting Dr. Dre, Johnson himself was stabbed — allegedly by David Darnell Brown, an up-and-coming rap artist known as Young Buck. Brown, 23, pleaded not guilty yesterday in L.A. County Superior Court to assault with a deadly weapon.

Johnson's defense lawyer Milton Grimes and Deputy DA Hamid Towfigh both declined comment — although Grimes suggested his client has a reasonable excuse for his role in the Nov. 15 melee.

"We will have that explanation [for the punch] in court," Grimes said. Johnson is still recovering from a collapsed lung, Grimes added.

Johnson's potential motive for punching Dr. Dre will probably be of no help to his accused stabber Brown, who Santa Monica cops claim was videotaped in the act. Brown's New York-based defense lawyer Scott Leemon declined to discuss the case yesterday outside court, but has previously said "pictures may be deceiving."

Young Buck, a rapper affiliated with 50 Cent's G-Unit and a Dre protégé, remains free on $500,000 bail, while Johnson is behind bars in lieu of a $1.4 million bond.

Knight, a ruthless businessman who has been in and out of prison, and Dr. Dre co-founded Death Row Records in 1992. But they've been bitter rivals ever since Dr. Dre left Death Row and became a producing legend on his own.

Johnson has told cops he attended the Vibe Awards with Knight's entourage, and that Knight was set on embarrassing Dr. Dre on his big night, sources said. The sucker punch came moments before Dr. Dre was set to be honored with a Vibe lifetime-achievement award.

Knight's lawyer David Chesnoff flatly rejected any suggestions that his client wanted Dr. Dre punched out.

"There is absolutely no truth to it. I am so confident that there is no issue," said Chesnoff, adding that investigators have not even asked to interview his paroled client Knight

Fat Joe and Jadakiss Respond to 50's Attacks

Looks like radios and DJs across the nation are scared to play 50Cent's 'Piggybank' track in which he gets at Fat Joe and Jadakiss (among others) for appearing on the Ja Rule single 'New York'.
According to some sources, 50 says about Fat Joe: "You thought 'Lean Back' was big in the club/my shit did 11 mill/your shit was a dud."
Fat Joe responded to Adpop.com ""I really don't care what he thinks," Fat Joe told andPOP last week, in a video interview being posted Wednesday. "I'm not the battle rap type. I just think he's gone crazy. Ja Rule has been a friend of mine since before him and 50 got into a problem. I've been working with him, so he [targeted me] because I'm supporting him.
I never look for trouble with him. I've never wanted trouble with him."

Jadakiss and Styles P also responded in a Funk Flex interview on Hot 97 saying that they're underdogs, that 50 sells 10 times more and that he's bound to win this feud.
according to Jadakiss, the Ja Rule collaboration was pure business.
